Released in 2016 as a limited release to celebrate two centuries of the distillery, the Lagavulin 8 Years was so successful that it became part of the permanent range of this famous maison. The history of this Whiskey starts from far away, precisely in 1885, when the journalist and reporter of the Harper's Weekly Gazette, Alfred Barnard, embarked on a journey to discover the distilleries of Scotland, England and Ireland. During this trip, which lasted two years, Barnard visited 167 distilleries and, having arrived from Lagavulin, he was offered an 8-year-old Whiskey that the journalist described, in his book, as 'exceptionally good'. He was not stingy with comments even on the distillery itself, so much so that he wrote that 'no more beautiful and romantic place could have been chosen for a distillery'…

Brilliant straw yellow colour, the name has a great stylistic cleanliness with notes of black pepper, citrus peel in alcohol and smoky tones, all alternating with sweeter aromas of milk chocolate without ever neglecting, of course, the marine profile. Warm, viscous, almost oily on the palate, it shows numerous flavors of wood and smoke, tobacco and honey, with a long-lasting finish in which the smoky nuances triumph, mixed with spices and chocolate.
