From the fleeing queen to the vineyards that color the island

Founded in 1983 by Giacomo and Gabriella Rallo, Donnafugata translates the "fleeing queen" of The Leopard into wine: labels with fantastic graphics, warm hues and a feminine spirit that evoke the light of Sicily. Today, sons José and Antonio preside over territories of excellence that range from Contessa Entellina toEtna, from Pantelleria to Vittoria, for wines capable of combining tradition and international breath.

    • Mosaic estates - clay hills at Contessa Entellina, volcanic terraces at Pantelleria, red sands at Vittoria and lava soils at the foot of Etna.
    • Identity GRAPE - Nero d'Avola and Frappato for the reds, Zibibbo from Pantelleria's alberello, Carricante from Etna and Catarratto from the interior mountains.
    • Range Icons - Ben Ryé Passito di Pantelleria, Mille e Una Notte Nero d'Avola, Sul Volcano Etna Rosso, Floramundi Cerasuolo di Vittoria.
    • Donnafugata style - night-time manual harvesting, separate microvinifications, calibrated aging in steel and oak to preserve fragrance and complexity.
    • Acknowledgements - Ben Ryé repeatedly awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso and cited by Wine Enthusiast among the world's best sweet wines; Mille e Una Notte with excellent scores by James Suckling and Wine Advocate.
    • Sustainability - drip water management in arid areas, solar power on rooftops in Marsala, biodiversity protection in Pantelleria's dry stone walls.
