Savoy nobility and green vision in the hills of Serralunga
Among the sinuous rows of the langhe, the fontanafredda winery guards a history that began in 1858 as a gift of royal love and today is projected toward sustainability: 120 hectares of vigna converted to organic farming that give wines capable of expressing every nuance of Barolo's crus.
- Native GRAPE - Nebbiolo for Barolo and langhe rosso, lively Barbera, fragrant Dolcetto, Nascetta and Timorasso with rare charm.
- International finesse - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling declined in alta langa sparkling wines and mineral whites.
- Green turn - since 2015 vineyards in organic conversion: grassland soil management, reduced treatments and constant monitoring of biodiversity.
- Territories of choice
- Serralunga d'Alba - ancient soils of the Lequio Formation (calcareous marls and sandy layers) that give structure and longevity. This is where theFontanafredda MGA falls and the historic cru Vigna La Rosa is born.
- Monforte d'Alba - dedicated selections in the Barolo DOCG of the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, confirming a deep-rooted presence in the most vocated municipalities of the appellation.
- Alta langa - vineyards at altitude (>250 m above sea level) for Metodo classico from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, crisp expressions of limestone matrix and cooler climate.
- Acknowledgements and milestones
- European Winery of the Year 2017 - Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Awards.
- Certified organic - conversion started in 2015 and first certified harvest in 2018 on over 120 ha.
