ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Although Clos de l'Oratoire is well known today, unlike many St. Emilion estates, the history of the property does not go back very far. The vineyards of what we know as Clos de l'Oratoire have been in use since the 1800s.
It was once part of the huge Peyreau estate. When this vineyard was divided into separate parts at the time of the first classification of St. Emilion, Clos de l'Oratoire was born, using the best terroir from the previously larger vineyard.
In 1972, the Clos de l'Oratoire and Peyreau vineyards were purchased by Joseph-Hubert, Graf von Neipperg, father of the current owner, Stephan von Neipperg.
