VINTAGE 2022 in Bolgheri was characterized by warm and dry weather conditions, with a mild winter and below-average rainfall. The spring was dry and encouraged regular budding, while the summer brought high temperatures and a period of water stress for the vines. However, a key event was the mid-August rains, which helped to rebalance the water level in the soil and ensure a more balanced ripening of the grapes.

Thanks to the particular microclimate of Tenuta San Guido, with vineyards located between 100 and 400 meters above sea level, it was possible to maintain good acidity in the grapes, a key element in preserving freshness and finesse in the final wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, which formed the predominant part of the blend, expressed well-defined tannins and an elegant structure, while Cabernet Franc added aromatic complexity and depth.

The harvest took place under conditions of excellent grape health, with hand picking selected to ensure only the best bunches. Harvest timing was critical to achieve a balance between phenolic maturity and acidity, elements that directly influence the longevity and elegance of Sassicaia 2022. This vintage is distinguished by extraordinary accessibility even in its youth, but with an evolutionary potential that promises great satisfaction over time.
