ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Il Bruciato is among the most symbolic and famous wines from the Guado al Tasso winery, owned by the legendary Antinori family. It is a Rosso from the prestigious Tuscan area of Bolgheri, made from a blend of French GRAPE varieties, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Syrah, which in these very lands reach very high levels of quality. The name comes from a forest that in the 1700s was totally il bruciato by the inhabitants of the area as a sign of protest against the noble Della Gherardesca family, at the time lords of Bolgheri, who forbade farmers to hunt in it.
This Bolgheri il Bruciato is produced each year within the Antinori family's Guado al Tasso estate, located about 80 km southwest of Florence, on the rolling green hills that envelop the ancient village, in an area with a unique microclimate that alternates between night and day with good temperature ranges, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness. The wine "Il Bruciato" is the breath of the wind, the strength of the earth and the passion of man; it is the demonstration of how these hills generate visual and taste emotions. Selected grapes are brought to the winery where they are destemmed and softly pressed. This is followed by fermentation and maceration on the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel for about 10-15 days. A portion of the merlot and syrah is fermented at lower temperatures to maintain varietal aromas and typical flavor. Malolactic takes place in steel and finishes in barrique. At the end of this stage, the wines are blended and mature in barrique for several months before being bottled and aged in glass for another 4 months.
