In 1996 Cecchi purchased the Val delle Rose estate in Poggio la Mozza in the production heart of Morellino di scansano. At the time of purchase Val delle Rose has 25 hectares under vine. The intervention can be likened to a small agricultural revolution since the agronomic techniques used until then did not guarantee the consistency of quality necessary for the survival of a winery. The study of the available soils, a practice later conducted by many other Maremma wineries, revealed the enormous potential of this terroir, so much so that the winery decided to extend the vineyard to the current 100 or so hectares where Sangiovese is the protagonist.
