Donnafugata's Etna Rosato "Sul Vulcano" is an elegant and savory wine with subtle aromas and refined flavors. It is a rosé made with grapes from the Nerello Mascalese vigna vineyards cultivated on the northern slope of Etna, which is characterized by a cool climate and mineral-rich soils. The grape variety's characteristics of elegance and finesse, combined with a delicate vinification only in steel, with a very light extraction, make it possible to obtain a rosé wine with a floral and citrus profile, with a light sip that seduces by its immediate pleasantness. It is a perfect wine to enjoy with fish appetizers, with shellfish or with white meats with delicate TASTING NOTES.
The wine "Sul Vulcano" is an Etna Rosato produced by one of the most important and famous wineries in Sicily. Donnafugata represents one of the wineries that have contributed most to the rebirth of Sicilian wine. Founded in the 1980s, it immediately focused on quality, with the enhancement of native GRAPE varieties and the traditions of the area. From the first nucleus of vigna in the marsala area, the winery has grown a lot and today manages 384 hectares divided into 4 estates in particularly suitable areas: Contessa Entellina, Pantelleria, Vittoria and Etna. On the slopes of the volcano, it owns 18 hectares of vigna on the northern slope, in the communal territories of Randazzo and Passopisciaro, at an altitude of about 750 meters above sea level. The vigna are cultivated in the Montelaguardia, Campo Re, Calderara, Allegracore and Marchesa districts, each characterized by particular soils in relation to the lava flows that have affected the area. The considerable ter-mic excursions between day and night, the cool and very windy climate, allow Nerello Mascalese to mature slowly with intense aromas and flavors.
Donnafugata's "Sul Vulcano" is an Etna Rosato that comes from a selection of Nerello Mascalese grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are cold macerated for about ten hours at 10°C, followed by a soft pressing and the White vinification of the must in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine rests in steel for several months. In the glass it is a soft, bright pink. The aroma profile is characterized by floral scents, aromas of citrus, pink grapefruit, pomegranate, raspberry and hints of herbs. The palate is streamlined and dynamic, with a fruit-delicate sip that races toward a finish of vibrant mineral freshness. A perfect expression of volcanic wine, this is a label not to be missed!
