ADDITIONAL NOTES:
The trend toward revaluing native grape varieties is a growing reality in the wine world. Closely linked to a specific REGION and its viticultural history, these grapes allow producers to express the identity and authenticity of their place of origin. A true movement that helps preserve an area's winemaking and cultural heritage and helps offer consumers a varied and exciting taste experience. Antonio Capaldo, president of the prestigious Feudi di San Gregorio wine group, has been one of the great people responsible for enhancing Campania (Italy) with local varieties such as greco, fiano and aglianico. Under the Tenute Capaldo project, he gives free rein to experimentation with a single goal: to obtain premium products that reflect the REGION.
This is how Tenute Capaldo Gulielmus Taurasi Riserva was born, a wine named after St. Guglielmo (Gulielmus in Latin), the man responsible for the construction in the 12th century of Goleto Abbey and who, like this white stone monastery, is a true symbol of Irpinia. Made from grapes of the native aglianico variety from only 2 hectares, cultivated according to traditional precepts and harvested by hand at the optimal time of ripening. Subsequently, in the winery, after a selection scrupulous selection of the best grapes, fermentation takes place in stainless steel and maturation in oak barrels for 24 months. Finally, the wine rests in bottle for another 24 months before being released to the market.
As a result, Capaldo presents us with Tenute Capaldo Gulielmus Taurasi Riserva, a premium wine from the DOCG Taurasi Riserva that, under an iconic name, reveals the magic and light of a unique terroir.
