Château d'Arlay is a family domaine classified "Monument Historique," open to the public in summer, which by vocation and tradition produces wines with long aging in wood, endowed with an amazing aptitude for aging, in which the notes of terroir are expressed with freshness and elegance. It is reputed to be the oldest château in de france, as attested by documents kept in the château since 1070.

Yields are very limited, averaging 30 Hl/Ha. Organic and biodynamic viticulture is practiced on half the vineyards and "raisonnée," in essence organic, on the other half. Harvests are obviously manual, with grape selection. According to tradition, grape blending takes place from the moment of harvest and never starting from grapes vinified separately. The wines, including the whites, mature an average of 4 years in old wooden barrels "ouillées," that is, filled periodically to prevent oxidation due to contact with the air, except for the "Vin Jaune," where purposely no remedy is made for the natural wine drops in the barrel.
