The identity of Beychevelle rests on a legend. In the early 17th century, the castle became the property of the first Duke of Épernon. His power was such that ships sailing on the Gironde had to let down their sails to the height of the castle as a sign of respect and loyalty to the duke. It was at this time that the domaine acquired its emblem, the ship with a griffin prow, and its Gascon name, Beychevelle, which means "let down sail."

A splendid property with magnificent gardens, Château Beychevelle ranks among the most prestigious crus in the Saint-Julien appellation, on the rive gauche of the Bordeaux REGION. Brighter than ever, the property enjoys a new state-of-the-art winery by architect Arnaud Boulain. Among the property's 250 hectares, Château Beychevelle rests on 90 hectares of vineyards, with typical Médoc grape varieties: 52% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, and 3% petit verdot. The specificity of Beychevelle's terroir is due to its magnificent Garonne gravel slopes and the immediate vicinity of the Gironde, which acts as a true climatic regulator and protector.

Exceptional wines, the style of Château Beychevelle is defined by the regularity of its excellent crus. Powerful, fleshy, and structured, they elegantly express the finesse of Saint-Julien's great terroir. Designed for aging, the wines of Château Beychevelle evolve superbly over the years.
