Kettmeir

Kettmeir is a winery with a 100-year history in Alto Adige, specializing in sparkling wines but also famous for its interpretations of local grape varieties. It was founded in 1919 by Joseph Kettmeier, an oenologist and agricultural engineer, in the picturesque area of Kaltern. Starting in the 1960s, it inaugurated a project to revive the South Tyrolean sparkling wine tradition, beginning to produce a cuvée of Pinot Blanc subjected to the long Charmat Method. Starting in the 1990s, the Metodo classico was definitively adopted, capable of guaranteeing a more complex and elegant style that would become the winery's hallmark. Today, ownership is in the hands of the Santa Margherita group, which wanted to continue the fascinating challenge of the Alpine Metodo Classico with great ambition.

The Kettmeir winery is well established in the Kaltern area and has always relied on the cooperation of about 60 loyal winemakers. These are genuine winemakers who have been cultivating the family vineyards for several generations, with a combined total of just over 55 hectares. The vineyards rest on the limestone soils of the mountainous reliefs of Pochi di Salorno, the breezy valley of Lago di caldaro and the cold rocks of Soprabolzano, capable of reaching 800 meters above sea level. An extraordinary territory that guarantees freshness and elegance to the entire production.

Kettmeir wines and sparkling wines are the result of the combination of the fortunate conditions of the land and human expertise. Modern and innovative production methods, recently revitalized with the introduction of tacnology, are indicative of a commercial emancipation that aims to conquer international markets, focusing everything on the quality of production. Expressive clarity, a crystal-clear aromatic spectrum, tension, elegance, minerality and freshness are the great qualities of all kettmeir's signature labels.
