    Cardhu Distillery

Among the oldest distilleries in Speyside, Cardhu dates back to 1811, the year John Cumming distilled, completely illegally, on his farm. When distilling licenses were officially issued in 1823, John and his wife Helen wasted no time in applying for and immediately obtaining one. Helen began managing the distillery herself, and after her death, the baton passed to her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, who built a new distillery from scratch on another part of the Cummings' property, where it remains today. Cardhu quickly gained a dominant position in the Johnnie Walker bouquet thanks to the quality of its spirit, but it was as a Single Malt that it truly shined. After numerous vicissitudes, in 2006 Cardhu officially entered the collective imagination of whisky lovers, releasing numerous Single Malt expressions.
