AGING:
A splendid symbol, perhaps the emblem, but undoubtedly an icon of Guatemala: Ron Zacapa 23 Gran Solera is, among aged rums, an absolute masterpiece, among the best existing rums in the world. It comes from a blend of young rums and rums aged between 6 and 23 years and aged according to a new aging system: the dynamic Solera di solera.
COLOR:
An intense, penetrating amber color.
PERFUME:
A nose intoxicated with hints of exotic and dried fruits.
FLAVOUR:
Finally a full, smooth and pleasantly velvety sip.
The extraordinary aromatic richness comes from the use as raw material of pure sugarcane juice of the best qualities, still processed according to the oldest artisanal traditions.
PRODUCTION METHOD:
A system, invented in Spain more than five centuries ago, that involves the use of burned oak barrels that previously contained bourbon, Sherry or Port, which give the distillate a smooth and complex aroma with hints of ripe fruit and spicy notes of nutmeg, cocoa and licorice. Impossible not to recognize its particular slightly sugary aftertaste of virgin honey.
The altitude at which the House Above the Clouds is located (2333 meters above sea level) allows a slow and patient exchange between wood and distillate until it has achieved a harmonious, pleasant, balanced taste.
BOXED:
YES
PAIRINGS:
Excellent as an after-dinner drink, Zacapa 23 Gran Solera fully expresses its personality when paired with a good cigar and dark chocolate.
