Some of the grapes for the Schieferkristall come from the small, steep monopole vineyard at Karthäuserhofberg, which is being converted to ecological cultivation. The rest of the grapes come from neighboring plots. After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented with the grapes' own yeasts. The wine then matures for several months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks.

The Schieferkristall skillfully combines the strengths of the REGION: low ALCOHOL CONTENT, fresh fruit and lots of minerality. Very fresh and crisp nose, with delicate notes of citrus, white currant, a bit of lychee, as well as obvious slate and wild spices, light as a ballerina but powerful as a Bruce Lee punch. The Schieferkristall shows extraordinary aging potential, with much depth and longevity.
