Donnafugata's Etna Rosato "Sul Vulcano" is an elegant and savory wine with subtle aromas and refined aromas. It is a rosé produced with grapes from the Nerello Mascalese vineyards grown on the northern slope of Etna, characterized by a cool climate and soils rich in minerals. The characteristics of elegance and finesse of the vine, combined with a delicate vinification only in steel, with a very light extraction, allow to obtain a rosé wine with a floral and citrus profile, with a light sip, which seduces for its immediate pleasantness. It is a perfect wine to be enjoyed with fish starters, shellfish or white meats with a delicate flavour.
The "Sul Vulcano" wine is an Etna Rosato produced by one of the most important and famous wineries in Sicily. Donnafugata is one of the companies that has contributed most to the rebirth of Sicilian wine. Born in the 80s, it immediately focused on quality, with the enhancement of native vines and local traditions. From the first nucleus of vineyards in the Marsala area, the winery has grown a lot and today manages 384 hectares divided into 4 estates in particularly suitable areas: Contessa Entellina, Pantelleria, Vittoria and Etna. On the slopes of the volcano, it owns 18 hectares of vineyards on the northern slope, in the municipal areas of Randazzo and Passopisciaro, at an altitude of about 750 meters above sea level. The vineyards are grown in the Montelaguardia, Campo Re, Calderara, Allegracore and Marchesa districts, each characterized by particular soils in relation to the lava flows that have affected the area. The considerable temperature excursions between day and night, the cool and very windy climate, allow Nerello Mascalese to mature slowly with intense aromas and scents.
"Sul Vulcano" by Donnafugata is an Etna Rosato that comes from a selection of Nerello Mascalese grapes. After the harvest, the grapes are cold macerated for about ten hours at 10 °C, followed by a soft pressing and the white vinification of the must in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Before bottling, the wine rests in steel for a few months. In the glass it has a soft and bright pink. The olfactory profile is characterized by floral scents, aromas of citrus fruits, pink grapefruit, pomegranate, raspberry and hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate it is slim and dynamic, with a delicate fruit sip that runs towards a finish of vibrant mineral freshness. Perfect expression of volcanic wine, it is a label not to be missed!
