ADDITIONAL NOTES:
There are places endowed with a magic of their own. Ancient buildings shrouded in an aura of light and mystery. And it is precisely this charm that inspired Antonio Capaldo, CEO of Feudi di San Gregorio and one of the leading figures in southern Italian wine, to pay homage to the Abbey of Goleto, creating a wine named after it. It is a 12th-century white stone monastery that, although partially destroyed by the 1980 earthquake, remains today a symbol of Irpinia, Campania (Italy). A place as emblematic and fascinating as the native greco di tufo grape variety that grows and thrives at its feet.
Responsible for enhancing southern Italian wine and rediscovering Mediterranean TASTING NOTES, Capaldo sees in these vineyards an opportunity to achieve the highest standards of quality with the region's flagship variety. This is how, after years of intense experimentation, he presents Tenute Capaldo Goleto Greco di Tufo, a white wine of the greco variety and registered in the DOCG Greco di Tufo from 70-year-old vines planted on limestone soils. Grapes grown in the traditional way and harvested by hand at the optimal time of ripening. In the winery, fermentation takes place in steel tanks, while aging takes place 80% in barrels and 20% in amphorae for 12 months. Finally, the wine rests in bottles for 12 months before release.
Through its iconic name, Tenute Capaldo Goleto Greco di Tufo is a wine that reflects the centuries-old heritage of the region of Irpinia. A great Italian white that features in prestigious wine guru robert parker's top 100 best discoveries and demonstrates the superior quality of the Greek variety.
