DESCRIPTION:

Thanks to the properties of the medicinal and aromatic herbs used for distillation, the Alpestre liqueur can be considered a true natural elixir, an exceptional digestive and a refreshing tonic. Created more than 150 years ago by the Marist Friar Emanuel, with the intention of wanting to make it a tonic to cure and his sick brethren, the Alpestre is still produced today with the ancient secret recipe that counts the distillation of as many as 34 medicinal herbs, digestive and antiseptic (such as lavender, angelica, wormwood, mint, lemon balm and fennel) and without the slightest addition of sugar or artificial flavors, aged for a long time in oak barrels and bottled without being filtered.

RAW MATERIAL:

Pure distillate of 34 medicinal, digestive, tonic, refreshing, antiseptic herbs--including thyme, wormwood, lavender, angelica, fennel, tanacetus, sage, mint, lemon balm, isop, cedarine and chamomile. Experienced herbalists cultivate the herbs in the fields near the distillery until they are brought to proper maturity. The distillate has been prepared by a secret method since 1857, so that all active ingredients are extracted completely and unaltered from the plants. Alpestre is then aged for a long time in Slavonian oak barrels in Carmagnola's spacious cellars and is finally bottled pure as it comes out of the barrel, without the addition of sugar, coloring agents or other additives.

CHARACTERISTICS:

Light gold in color, it offers on the nose a wealth of herbaceous and mentholated sensations (including fennel and wormwood) conveyed by the alcohol ether. The palate is secco, balsamic and mentholated, with a long bitter finish.

TASTING:

Tasted neat after meals, it is an excellent digestive; added to hot water and honey and drunk before going to sleep, it conciliates sleep.
